Attending College Fairs
As an Alumni Admission Program volunteer, you may be asked to represent Vassar at local college fairs. Your role as a volunteer representative is to provide a local contact and to help students learn more about Vassar.
The Admissions Office will send you a package of materials prior to the fair that will include:
To prepare for the fair, take a look at the Resources section of this site.
At the fair, greet students that come to your table and start the conversation by asking what the student is interested in studying in college. (Use the "Facts" brochure for a list of departments at Vassar.) You might want to share information about Vassar’s small, seminar style classes (average class size is 16), research opportunities, and internship possibilities offered by the field work office.
Encourage students to complete an inquiry card to get on our mailing list.
If a student asks a question that you cannot answer, check Vassar at a Glance 2008-2009 and the Frequently Asked Questions. If you can't find the answer, encourage the student to go to our web site at www.Admissions.Vassar.edu or to contact the Vassar Admission Office using the phone number and email in the "Facts" brochure.
