Vassar Alumni Admissions Program

Congratulating Admitted and Enrolling Students

Congratulatory phone calls from Alumni Admission Program volunteers to admitted students and welcoming phone calls to enrolling students are important. Your enthusiasm indicates a level of commitment to Vassar and a belief in its educational mission that are very important to students and their families.

You will learn about the admissions decisions made on the students whom you interviewed from your local Alumni Admission Committee chair and the Office of Admission in April. Please reach out to these students to extend your congratulations. Some things that you might want to do are to encourage the student to visit the campus; in April, admitted students may request an overnight visit with a Vassar student and a class visit.

Also note that students who applied for financial aid should receive notice of financial aid awards about five days after they receive their letters of admission. Encourage students who have questions or concerns about their financial aid packages to call the Office of Financial Aid at 845-437-5320.

In the summer, you will also learn who in your area will be attending Vassar in the fall. Contacting these students is a wonderful way to to welcome them to the Vassar family.
